 The Activities

You will be amazed at the range of exciting activities on offer during your time at Khmer Village Homestay. Remember, the longer you stay with us the more activities you will be able to do!

Village Tour by Pony Cart
Hop on the back of a pony cart, the main form of transportation in this part of Cambodia. As well as being an ideal way to take in the scenery, the pony cart will ensure that you arrive in style at various locations around the village, such as the local market, school, church and a nearby livestock farm.

Village Home Visit
The heartbeat of Baray is its warm and welcoming inhabitants and you will get the chance to meet one of the families living in the surrounding village, walking by foot from Khmer Village Homestay through the back roads of Baray to bring greetings from your home country.

Sunset Ox Cart Ride
The sunsets over the rice fields of Baray are not to be missed and, with the help of a trusty ox cart, you will be taken to one of the areas best spots for watching the sun go down between the palm trees. A great combination of a gentle ride and some magnificent views!

Traditional Khmer Dancing
Be mesmerized as a group of young people from Baray come and perform traditional Khmer dances on our specially-designed wooden veranda. But don’t get too engrossed, as you may just be asked to join in!

Boat Making and Fishing Expedition (seasonal)
Catch a unique glimpse of how local villagers sustain themselves, by watching them carefully carve their fishing boats from trees at nearby Phum Dong. Afterwards, you can see their handiwork in action, joining them on the nearby River in search of their evening meal.

Visiting the Weaving and Woodcarving Workshop
The weaving and woodcarving workshop located on the grounds of Khmer Village Homestay provide a perfect opportunity for you to witness first-hand the remarkable skill of Cambodian artisans. Watch as they weave scarves, carve wood and print on fabric and then have a go yourself, taking home a personalised gift from Khmer Village Homestay.

Palm Fruit Tasting
There are a number of weird and wonderful fruits in Cambodia, but one of the most exotic is the fruit that grows atop the palm tree. Grab a spoon and dig in to this delicious snack, but be careful – it can get a bit messy!

Breakfast at the Market
No trip to a Cambodian village would be complete without breakfast at the local market, the only place to be at six o’clock in the morning! Travel by pony cart and find yourself sitting next to other villagers as they eat their bowls of rice noodles and meat – exactly what you’ll be having too!
